The Ol Donyo Wuas Trust (ODWT) was founded in Kenya, East Africa, in 1991 by Richard and Tara Bonham.  ODWT was originally known as the Maasailand Preservation Trust and has, since inception, been located on Mbirikani Group Ranch, a Maasai community-owned wilderness tract and pastureland of 300,000 acres situated near Mt. Kilimanjaro in the Amboseli-Tsavo ecosystem of southeastern Kenya.  In 2003 ODWT introduced and tested an innovative conservation model that has proven to be extraordinarily successful in the prevention of lion killing and the shifting of a community’s attitude and behavior toward wildlife and habitat conservation.
